French market says 'non' for October return

A poor turnout last time around means the continental market will not return to Newbury in October

NEWBURY will not be welcoming back the French market later this year, owing to a poor turnout last time around.

The continental market has visited the town on several occasions in recent years, offering an array of French produce, including breads, regional cheeses, confectionery and jewellery.

But on Monday (June 6), Newbury Town Council services manager, Granville Taylor, said the market would not be returning in October due to a poor turnout during their last visit in May.

He added, however, that the market would return next year.
