Friday folk




Multi award-winning singer Emily Smith is a leading figure of the Scottish folk scene. She is performing at Arlington Arts Centre tonight at 7.30pm.


Originating from Dumfries and Galloway, she went to school at Wallace Hall Academy where she gained a degree in Scottish music from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
She won the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award in 2002, the USA Songwriting Competition in 2005 at the Scots Trad Music Awards, Scots Singer of the Year in 2008 and she received two nominations in the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Emily has toured the world, from the Cambridge Folk Festival to the National Folk Festival in Australia, via Europe, Russia, Canada and New Zealand.
She is touring until April 5
