Friends pepare for 1,800-mile Olympic cycle quest

Mike Deeks, 18, from Upper Basildon, and Clym Buxton, age 19 from Frilsham, will join Matthew Landells, aged 19 from Wallingford, on the trip in aid of three charities, Starlight, Make a Wish and Action for M.E.
The group start from the Greek capital Athens on Wednesday and hope to finish at the Olympic Park in London on August 2.
They will take in Athens through Patras, Rome, Nice, Geneva and Paris over four weeks.
Mr Deeks said: “Since the age of three, I've been inseparable from one form of a bike or another, so spending a whole month doing nothing but cycling is a bit of a dream.
“My preparation has been limited due to my A-levels so I think that the first week will be training in itself. I am really looking forward to the stretch along the west coast of Italy and around to Nice.”
