Fright time at The Vyne
Feel the vibes on a spooky tour around the garden of the historic house in Sherborne St John
Many of the National Trust's atmospheric country estates are reputed to be haunted, but few have had the chance to delve further into these ghostly ‘undercurrents'.
The Vyne, near Basingstoke, is running its first garden evening ghost tours, in association with Twilight Tours, which specialises in paranormal guided walks at historical locations. The tours are a fun and lighthearted introduction to the world of psychics and mediums, and offer visitors the chance to test their own psychic abilities, and question the experts.
The evening begins with a tour of the gardens with a medium, who is hoping to locate paranormal activity, following an earlier visit in the summer, which, the National Trust reports, proved fruitful.
The tour will be followed by a light supper, to settle the nerves. Visitors will then be encouraged to explore and use professional psychic equipment under the guidance of the medium.
These tours offer an opportunity to explore the spooky and spiritual side of this former Tudor ‘powerhouse', a favourite of Henry VIII's who visited several times, with both Catherine of Aragon and the unfortunate Anne Boleyn.
The tours take place on September 3 and 17, between 7pm and 11.30pm (gates open 6.45pm). The cost is £35, booking essential on 01256 883858.
