From Chieveley to Cornwall... on foot

Swollen ankles are often a given for expectant mothers but for Anna Chicken. Aged 29, these were caused almost entirely down to treading paths and fields in lashing rain and sun to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Such has been the level of support along the way the teacher from St Gabriel’s School in Newbury, who is 13 weeks pregnant, beat her target £600 and is on course to smash the £1000 barrier.
The idea came from a New Year resolution, and on Friday, July 6, she set off walking 15 miles a day, before arriving on Wednesday, July 18.
“As soon as I told people what I was doing they couldn't be more generous. We went into a pub, one man handed over £20, another emptied his pockets for us,” she said
“One of my best friends has cystic fibrosis so I was determined to do something. Some people with the disease find it hard to cope but she is so active and keeps herself going.
“They are quite close to finding a cure now I believe so every bit of money is really important.”
