From farm to fork in Aldermaston Cub badge
The group from 1st Aldermaston Scout Group visited the Newbury store last Tuesday, and were tasked with researching fruit and vegetables to find out where they are typically grown and how they contribute to a healthy diet.
They also learned more about bread, cheese and fish sold at the store and sampled a range of products to rate their taste, appearance and consistency.
The visit ended with a tour of the store and a talk on how freezing can be used as a form of food preservation, ahead of the presentation of their badges.
Farm to Fork guide at Tesco London Road, Anne Atkins, said: “The Tesco involvement is to do with our Eat Happy project, known as Farm to Fork, to promote healthier eating and lifestyles.
“This is also linked to our charity partnerships with Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.”
