Frustrations in Faraday Road following third day of lengthy tailbacks

Lengthy tailbacks stretching to the end of Faraday Road first began forming during Thursday evening.
Some employees and customers to Faraday Road businesses, as well as those making use of the free parking bays, have reported it taking up to an hour to reach the A4 junction.
The Newbury Weekly News has been contacted by a number of those affected, one of whom said their colleagues had faced the queues and instead decided to drive back to work and walk home.
It has also caused a number of motorists to use the Majestic wine warehouse carpark as a cut through onto the A4, ignoring road signs stating access is for customers only, to the frustration of managers and staff there.
Similar delays were experienced on Tuesday evening and again during rush hour last night (Wednesday). Pictured is traffic queueing to access Faraday Road from Ampere Road yesterday (sent by @zombie73).
When asked if West Berkshire Council had been notified of the fault yesterday (Wednesday), spokesman Keith Ulyatt said the council was “fully aware of the problem” and expected to have a Siemen’s engineer on site by 2.30pm.
However, the problem had not been fixed by beginning of rush hour.
The cause of the problem has not yet been confirmed by the council.
