Full speed ahead for Pangbourne full fibre broadband

Works to connect more than 1,100 Pangbourne homes to full fibre broadband are now under way, with the first residents set to have access to ultrafast speeds by November.

The project is part of a £56m investment by Gigaclear to deliver fast and reliable broadband to rural Berkshire communities.

Gigaclear's full-fibre upgrade is bringing speeds of up to 900Mbps — enough to download a whole film in just four seconds.

"Unlike many other broadband providers who compete to offer their services in dense, urban areas, we're focussing on harder-to-reach communities that are far less likely to have a choice of supplier," explained central delivery director Ben Woods.

"We fully appreciate how important it is for people to have reliable and fast broadband speeds so they can live their lives fully, whether it's working from home, streaming or accessing other online entertainment.

"This is why we are doing all we can to extend our full fibre network to rural communities in Berkshire that might otherwise not have access to this."

Gigaclear will be utilising existing Openreach ducts and poles wherever possible in order to minimise disruption.
