Fun at the fetes being held today (Sat)

With the recent spell of summer expected to continue over the weekend, visitors can enjoy other traditional events such as egg throwing, fun races and a novelty dog competition.
Last year's fete set the world record for the most people wearing paper crowns, with 749 people donning the novelty head-wear in celebration of the Queen's diamond jubilee.
The world record certificate will be on display in the control tent and organisers will be asking for suggestions on how to spend the money raised from the paper crown sales.
Money from this year's event will go to the Duchess of Kent House, a hospice that treats people with cancer and other life shortening diseases.
The event will run between noon and 5pm at the Pangbourne Meadows.
But if the grandeur of boating on the Thames isn't enough for you, a Downton twist will be offered at the Highclere church fete at 2pm.
Actress Penelope Wilton, who plays Isobel Crawley in the series, will open the event and producers will be holding open auditions for locals to appear as extras.
But if the prospect of appearing in Downton Abbey is too much, there's also the Headley Village Fete being held at the Headley recreation ground between noon and 4pm.
Featuring belly dancing, steam rollers, games and stalls the event is set to keep people entertained through the day and into the evening when a hot air balloon will go up as the sun goes down.
There's also fun to be had in Speen where a coconut shy, circus skills and fairground shooting games will be on the agenda.
The event, taking place on Saturday, June 8 at Speen Recreation Ground, in Station Road, will be officially opened by Elton John tribute act Paul Bacon at 2pm.
Visitors on the day can browse through bric-a-brac, plant and book sales while a tombola, children's races, five-a-side football and a performance by a brass band will also be on offer.
A cash prize of £150 will also be scooped by one lucky guest in the raffle.
Admission is 50p, while concessions receive free entry.
The event will close its doors at 5pm.
Last, but by no means least, is the fete being held at St Thomas Infant School in Woolton Hill.
Children in fancy dress will embark on a treasure hunt and walk the plank from 11am.
