Thatcham Family Fun Day still occurring on June 27 following lockdown restrictions delay
THATCHAM Family Fun Day is scheduled to return on Sunday (June 27).
A coronavirus safety plan has been signed off for the event following the delayed easing of lockdown restrictions.
Mayor of Thatcham John Boyd said: "After an absence of one year, we are delighted that Family Fun Day is returning to Henwick Worthy Playing Fields and we look forward to at last being able to celebrate together.
"It is great to see so many local sports clubs who have had spectator restrictions being part of the day with soccer try-outs with both Thatcham Tornadoes and Thatcham Ladies Football Club. Over 50 stalls are participating, many from the local community and no doubt they will be looking forward to seeing, for the first in a long time, familiar and new faces.’’
A circus skills display and workshop area will accompany a funfair, dance displays, classic car and dog show.
Rugby Tots, Thatcham Cricket Club and the West Berkshire Rock Choir have dropped out of the event.
There will be a number of reception points with temperature checks and sanitisers, and attractions will be spread out for social distancing.
The town council is encouraging people to walk or cycle to the event. A bike lock area will be on site and a police will offer a bike security marking service.
