Fun for all this Bank Holiday Monday
THERE are plenty of events across West Berkshire to keep the kids entertained this Bank Holiday Monday.
The grounds of St Mary’s Church in Kingsclere will provide the setting for the annual Kingsclere church fete and duck race, from 12pm to 4pm.
Highlights of this year’s fete will include a Great Kingsclere ‘bake off’, stalls, activities, barbecue, ice creams, face painting and a dance show.
The Duck race, from Pope's Hill, will start at 4pm and has been organised by Kingsclere Twinning Association.
Meanwhile, the hugely popular annual Wolf Centre Open day will make its return to Butlers Farm in Beenham from 11am to 5pm.
Guests will have the opportunity to see Arctic wolves, admire the Beenham pack and see the older wolves, including mischievous Mosi and Torak, majestic Mai and Motomo.
There is also a photography platform overlooking the Beenham pack, where visitors will be able to see the Arctic pack via a large picture window in the shop and education centre.
There will be a host of activities for the kids, including face painting, a bouncy castle and the chance to take part in ‘Wolf Tracker’, a treasure hunt game across the site with a wolfy twist and prizes.
Various animal charity stalls will be present, including a ‘Hug a Husky Display’, while visitors can test their knowledge with a wolf quiz.
The younger guests can also meet and have their photograph taken with the trust’s mascot, Alo.
Advance tickets cost £8 for adults or £5 for members. Children (3-11) and OAP tickets cost £5, while under 3s go free. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) can be purchased in advance for £24.
Free parking will be available on the day.
There is also football action as Thatcham take on Fleet at Waterside Park.
