Fund-raising dinner for East Garston Church

Television presenter Francis Fulford is guest of honour at bash

A FUND-raising dinner in aid of East Garston Church was held at the village's Queens Arms Hotel.

Thirty-two people enjoyed dinner and fine wines in the fundraising experiment devised by villager Freddie Tullock, his wife Sue and their four children, all keen members of the East Garston Church Young Families Group.

The celebrity speaker was Mr Tulloch's brother in law, television presenter Francis Fulford who was featured in Channel 4's ‘The F**king Fulfords.'

Churchwarden Sally Wright said: “There was some apprehension about the event, as Freddie had given us a colourful account of what to expect from his brother in law! The evening turned out to be a sparkling occasion.

“Francis Fulford, was exceedingly charming, most correct in his vocabulary and an utterly conventional Englishman. We all thoroughly enjoyed his speech – ‘How I would save the church.'”

She added: “It was a most remarkable evening and a wonderful mix of people that came together not just to enjoy themselves, but also to strengthen East Garston Church funds. This they did by the excellent sum of £1,400.

“We are indebted to Francis Fulford and his charming wife Kishanda for their generosity in helping us to raise funds for the church and to Freddie and Sue Tulloch for their imagination and willingness to help us. Thank you every one who came.”
