Pangbourne College community funding boost to support local children

Pangbourne College recently launched its community fund.

The fund — offering grants of up to £500 — aims to enable charities and organisations to run projects, activities or events that will enrich educational opportunities for local children and young adults.

The Pangbourne College Community Grants Committee is now inviting applications for grants via an online application form by May 19.

College pupils, with the help of the wider community, plan to raise money for the fund through various initiatives across the year.

Applications will be considered at a committee meeting in early June.

Bursar, Neil Walne, said: "I'm so pleased to see this fund being opened up to applicants from the local community.

"We really hope the awarded grants will bring projects to life that will benefit educational development of children.

"Social, personal and character development underpin all that we do here at Pangbourne College."

Headteacher Thomas Garnier added: "Schools are about people and Pangbourne is proudly a 'people place', home to a team of passionate educators with a deep commitment to its pupils.

"Our pupils appreciate this privilege and understand that not everyone has access to the same opportunities.

"Through their fundraising endeavours, our pupils will be able to 'give something back' and will see how their efforts can positively impact children and young adults in our local community."

Previous recipients of the Pangbourne College Community Grant Fund, previously known as 'The Centenary Fund', have included Pangbourne Adventure Dolphin and Pangbourne Youth Football Club.

The college will also continues to support its international partnership with the Nabugabo Community Learning Centre by sponsoring the Nabugabo children as they go on to study at the St Kizito Secondary School for the next five years.
