The Mayor of Newbury’s final charity event before his term ends will be a fundraising banquet, Newbury Town Council has announced.

Taking place on Saturday, April 9, at the Chequers Hotel, the black-tie event is being held in support of Newbury Speakability and the Mayor’s Benevolent Fund.

Tickets for the evening cost £60 and they will include a welcome drink, a three-course meal, and a disco with a DJ after dinner.

The mayor of Newbury, Billy Drummond, said: “I would like to invite everyone to come along to my fundraising banquet.

“I am really excited about bringing people together for an evening at the Chequers Hotel, raising money for two excellent charities.

“The Mayor’s Benevolent Fund helps local people and organisations in financial need, and Speakability helps people (like me) who are stroke survivors with aphasia.”

A silent auction and a raffle will also be held at the banquet to raise additional funds to the two charities.

Group discounts are available but booking is essential as limited tickets are available.
