Funds still needed for King’s Coronation community celebration in Greenham
Funds are still being raised for a Coronation community celebration in Greenham.
The Diamond House Church in Greenham and Greenham Community Centre are holding the event on Bank Holiday Monday.
There will be an eight piece inflatable for children to play on, a children’s fairground ride and entertainer.
There will be opportunities to get faces painted, visit side stalls, or get treats from the sweet trailer and ice cream van.
There are also advance ticketed private hour inflatable sessions available for children with special educational needs.
There will be another session for ‘serious enthusiasts’.
These will be held earlier on in the day of the event in a bid to offer inclusivity.
Associate leader at The Diamond House Church Belinda Archibald said: “We are a community outreach church which was birthed seven years ago from a desire to serve, as we saw the need for action within our diverse community.
“There are a lot of children here, some disabled, fostered and many single parents and ex-military broken families.
“Just before the pandemic, we started the Diamond Angels holiday club to run over the holidays to give these children something to do.
“Many of them have never even been on holiday.
“It is very rural here and can be quite isolating.
“As a result of that, one of these young people Lillie Howe won West Berkshire’s community champion last year for service to the community over the pandemic”
She added: “We have had two fun days on the ex USAF Baseball Diamond, since we came out of the pandemic and have had a fantastic response from the community.
“It has really helped to foster goodwill and community cohesion.
“Last year we had 150 people and are hoping for more this year.”
The event will be held at The Baseball Diamond, Greenham, RG19 8XA from 2pm – 5pm.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for children.
