Funky moves and platform shoes at Greenham jive

Around 100 people turned up for the S’Funk Saturday night dance, at the Liberty Ballroom, Greenham Business Park - many newcomers to the Ceroc (modern jive) dance-style, with DJ’s spinning soul, funk and disco classics.
Ceroc teacher, Val Rokov, said the annual event always pulled a good crowd:
“They even learnt The Bus Stop and The Hustle for a mass disco line dance experience to break up the partner dancing,” said Mrs Rokov, who continued:
“It always amazes me how so many people love the concept of getting dressed up in fancy dress and how much effort they make – that’s what really creates the added atmosphere and makes it such a fun event.”
Proving the opportunity to discover a suitable costume can suddenly arise almost anywhere, was Kingsclere villager, Karen Columbo, wearing a brightly patterned 1970’s style dress she said had been given to her by a woman in Spain.
