A TALK on the future of the Kennet and Avon canal will be held in Theale library later this month.
Dr Mike Rodd, the chairman of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust will appear at The Gateway Theale Library and Adult Learning Centre on Thursday, May 26 at 7.30 pm to present a brief, illustrated overview of the history of the waterway, which connected London to Bristol 201 years ago.
He will discuss how despite the best efforts of the Trust and the waterway's statutory owners, British Waterways, changing government policy is once again bringing the importance of direct local involvement in the waterway to the fore.
