Garden show confirmed for sixth year

In 2011 the event raised a whopping £62,000 for local charities and show director Nigel Dyson is confident that the 2013 show will rack up a similar sum.
The fundraising will kick-start on June 14 with a gala preview evening of the gardens for around 900 guests, including a performance by the Rifle Brigade Band.
The gardens of West Woodhay House will then open to the general public on June 15 and 16 and organisers are currently planning a weekend of entertainment for all ages.
A silent auction, put together by Newbury Rotary Club, will be making a reappearance.
In 2011, it generated £7,000 towards the final total.
Local schools and youth groups are also being invited to enter the Wonderful Wheelbarrow Competition.
Mr Dyson is appealing for further sponsorship for the show to come forward, with next year’s beneficiaries to include ABF The Soldiers Charity, Newbury Spring Festival and Rotary International among other local charities.
