Candidates standing in Newbury and Mid Berkshire and Reading West
The candidates listed to fight the Newbury seat in the forthcoming General Election are:
Laura Farris, Conservative. The sitting MP elected in 2019 with a majority of 16,047 votes. Her father had represented the constituency between 1974 and 1992.
Lee Dillon, Liberal Democrat. Until last week the leader of West Berkshire Council and still a sitting councillor on the executive.
Dr Elizabeth Bell, Labour Party. Dr Bell has lived in the village of Great Shefford since 1990, where she is a primary school governor and a former parish councillor. She is a former British diplomat, civil servant and head of policy and external affairs in several organisations in the science and education sector.
Earl Jesse, Freedom Alliance. He stood in the North Shropshire by-election.
Gary Johnson, UKIP.
Steve Masters, Green. Steve is a sitting councillor on Newbury Town Council and was previously on West Berkshire Council before losing his seat in last May's election.
Doug Terry, Reform UK.
The General Election in the new constituency seat of Reading West and Mid Berkshire will be fought between six candidates.
They are:
Labour: Olivia Bailey, a former senior aide to Sir Kier Starmer.
Conservative: Ross MacKinnon, a current Tory councillor in opposition at West Berkshire Council.
Liberal Democrats: Helen Belcher. Another serving local councillor on Wiltshire Council.
Independent: Adrian Abbs. A former Lib Dem councillor and now an independent councillor on West Berkshire Council.
Greens: Carolyn Culver. A current Green Party councillor on West Berkshire Council.
Reform UK: Kate Bosely.
