FANCY getting tattooed for breast cancer research?

Hungerford mum Sandra Scarlett does; she’s persuaded her extended family and friends to join in... and now she’s after your body, too!

Mrs Scarlett, of Park Way, will be first in the queue to get the pink ribbon symbol permanently etched on her skin... followed by her husband, her sons, friends and family.

And she hopes that by throwing the event on Sunday open to the public, as well as family and friends, she can raise a tidy sum for breast cancer research.

More than 40 people have already volunteered, and the 46-year-old stock controller at Tesco Hungerford explained: “I have to have regular mammograms because I’ve been designated high risk and I thought having the pink ribbon tattooed would be a good way of showing solidarity and support with others.

“My husband Warren said he would support me by having it done as well.”

Eldest son Jamie, aged 24, is even travelling from London to have it done and various aunts, uncles and friends have volunteered, too.

The idea caught on so quickly that a whole day session has now been booked.

The event, which is open to all, takes place between 10am and 6pm on Sunday, October 25, at the Royal British Legion in Church Way, Hungerford.

Three tattooists from Skin Wizard have donated their time and skill for the day and tattoos will cost £30 each, with proceeds going to breast cancer charities.

There will also be a bouncy castle, a plant sale, raffle and classic motorcycle display.

Tesco Hungerford has donated refreshments, plus raffle prizes.

Mrs Scarlett said: “The tattooists say they will do their best to fit everyone in who wants to have it done, so come and join us.”
