Get your bike security marked for free

Thames Valley Police is hosting the event outside the Homebase store at Newbury Retail Park between 10am and 2pm on Sunday (April 29).
The Newbury neighbourhood policing team will also be offering crime prevention advice and home security surveys.
The bike marking exercise involves engraving the frame of the bike with the owner’s postcode and attaching a tamper proof sticker.
Visitors will also be given a log book to register their bike’s details.
Police Community Support Office Colin Reeves, of the Newbury neighbourhood team, said: “This event is a continuation of the success of the scheme that we have had during the past three years. The team has security marked over 500 bikes so far and we are looking to stage more events during the summer.
“Over 130,000 bikes are stolen in the UK each year. Having a bike security marked makes it easier for the police to identify and speeds up the process for returning it to its owner.”
You can contact any member of the Newbury neighbourhood team by calling the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.
