Giraffe mystery in Newbury

A cartoon tag of the exotic animal has been spotted at roadsides around the town

A RASH of red giraffes have been spotted around Newbury.

The logos have appeared on the parapet of the A34 bridge in Wash Water, and near Woolton Hill beauty spot The Chase.

According to the HIghways Agency, similar giraffe sightings have been reported locally including one on the side of the A34 bridge in Pound Street, and another on the Bath Road, Speen.

Agency spokeswoman Jane Manning said the graffiti would be removed as part of routine maintenance by the agencies contractors over the next few months but added that, since it was inoffensive, it was not a priority.

Anyone who has further sightings of red giraffe graffiti, or information about who might have created them and why, should contact reporter Jane Meredith, email jane.meredith@newburynews.co.uk
