Go, Will! Veteran fundraiser (aged 6) at it again...
Aged just six, and already a veteran fundraiser, Hungerford Primary School pupil William Howells will pedal from Reading to Bristol to raise money for Naomi House children’s hospice.
Last year he bicycled from Hungerford to Bath, raising more than £700 for charity.
He and his tree surgeon dad, Ben, ploughed through wind and rain along muddy towpaths to complete the 50-mile journey in three days.
Today (Thursday) the pair set off on their latest adventure - this time covering a distance of 100 miles.
Mr Howells, married to Kintbury GP Heather, said: “The ride will take in part of National Cycle Route 4 (a series of safe, traffic-free lanes and quiet on-road routes that connect to every major city), the Kennet and Avon towpath and the railway cycle path from Bath to Bristol.”
Mr Howells will be cycling with him on the ride, carrying supplies and offering support but William will be completing the ride entirely under his own steam.
He hopes to complete the ride over three days.
