Golden day for Silchester drinkers as they celebrate beer festival
A SILCHESTER brewery was among those proffering speciality golden ales and ciders at a recent annual beer festival in the village.
Several local breweries lined up their ales and ciders for the event, the third of its kind, being held at Silchester Village Hall event. These included Silchester’s finest – Wild Weather Ales, of Benyon Road in the village, which slipped down the throats of a fine turn-out on the day
Silchester Association, who organised the event, said: “It was another good party in the village hall, welcoming drinkers from as far as Basingstoke and Newbury.”
Local breweries were to the fore on the day, including Tutts Clump Ciders, of Bradfield, Longdog Brewery, of Basingstoke, whose Bunny Chaser and Golden Poacher brews were among the offerings, alongside Siren Brewery of Finchampstead, whose tempting pump trio included Liquid Mistress, Soundwave and Undercurrent.
Berkshire firm Binghams Brewery's Ruscombe’s Tyford Tipple was also nestling among the brews at the festival in the village.
