Calcot Golf Club supports Sue Ryder hospice in charity partnership

Calcot Golf Club has committed to supporting Sue Ryder hospice charity as its new ‘charity of the year’.

The club kickstarted its partnership with the Reading-based charity at an official launch event held this month.

This year’s club captain, Seamus Ward, chose to support Sue Ryder after his mother received outpatient palliative care from the hospice.

He said: “So many people we know have had friends or family affected by life-limiting conditions and have received exceptional care from nurses at Sue Ryder.

“The work they do is incredible and without their support, the hardest times would be even harder.

“We are honoured to be able to support our local hospice this year and give something back.”

The new partnership was marked by the captain’s ‘Drive In’, where club members celebrated with a meal and listened to the charity’s community fundraising manager Hannah Richards speak about the difference the partnership will make.

She said: “We’re so grateful to Seamus at the Calcot Golf Club for choosing us as their charity of the year and committing to support us in 2024.

“The funds raised will make a huge difference in helping us to be there when it matters for people going through the most difficult times of their lives.”
