Good reports for Padworth College
The headteacher of Padworth College, Linde Melhuish, has spoken of her delight at the recent reports
THE HEADTEACHER of Padworth College has spoken of her delight after the college was deemed good in two reports published following recent inspections.
The college achieved an overall rating of “good” in both its Ofsted report of boarding provision and the Independent Schools Inspectorate's report into the school's educational provision.
Ofsted inspectors attended the college, which has 111 students, 80 per cent of whom board, in February and found the institution to be good in five out of the six categories, with a satisfactory rating awarded in achieving economic wellbeing.
The ISI carried out two inspections at the school in January and February and awarded the college good in three categories: the quality of academic and other achievements, the quality of the students' personal development and the effectiveness of governance, leadership and management.
Commenting on the reports, headteacher Linde Melhuish said: “The inspection teams took time to understand Padworth. The report therefore reflects their strongly felt belief that it is a special place, which draws out the best from its students.
“The pastoral system was found to be strong and supportive and the Inspectors spoke highly of the excellent relationships between staff and students which undoubtedly strengthen and support learning both in and outside the classroom.
“The occasion of such inspections provides us with objective judgement from education experts as to how the College is performing and therefore helps us to assess the priorities for the future and to develop the school accordingly.”
