Gorseland fire at Tot Hill extinguished




Firefighters dig out smoldering peat

FIREFIGHTERS battled a smoldering gorseland fire at Tot Hill this afternoon (Sun).

One fire engine from Newbury Fire Station was called at 1pm to woodland at the back of Tot Hill services, off the A34, near Burghclere, where around 5 sq m of the area was found smoldering.

Firefighters dug out some of the peat and extinguished the fire using one hosereel.

The cause was unknown.

Firefighters departed at around 2.30pm
