Lambourn Surgery patient is scam victim
LAMBOURN Surgery has warned the public after a patient fell victim to a scam.
On Tuesday, October 24, the Bockhampton Road surgery issued the following: “We have been made aware of an incident where one of our patients has received a call from someone pretending to be a doctor at the surgery in response to a 111 enquiry.
“The patient was then offered a prescription and asked for bank/debit card details to cover the delivery cost of the prescription.
“The charge was £4.
“The bank account was then debited several times for different amounts before the card was cancelled.
“Please be aware that the surgery will NEVER ask for bank or card details over the phone.
“Any transactions with the surgery are dealt with by invoice and settled via cheque or BACS or at the dispensary hatch.
“The police have been made aware and investigations are in progress.”
