Grab a Covid-19 booster jab at Hungerford Cricket Club's pop up clinic during December
A booster jab pop-up centre in Hungerford is being set up to help clear the backlog in West Berkshire.
Health officials say the Hungerford Cricket Club site will be open from next Wednesday, December 8 until Friday, December 17. It will, however, be closed on the Saturday.
They hope to jab around 3,000 people in total at the centre, which will be open from 10am until 6.30pm.
Dr Abid Irfan, Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group chair and locality lead for Newbury and District, said: “We need to encourage anyone who is eligible for a booster jab, to get theirs now.
“We are approaching the busy festive period and now, more than ever, we need to make sure that everyone is fully vaccinated to protect not just themselves, but those around them.
“The Covid vaccine really is our best protection against the virus.”
Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group said the new centre will work on an appointment basis, with a small number of walk in vaccines available each day.
Appointments can be booked via West Berkshire Council's platform at - www.westberks.gov.uk/coronavirusvaccination
It is also looking for more venues to send its grab-a-jab bus to in Newbury, where some eligible residents are being asked to travel as far as Reading and Oxford.
Details of another clinic in Kintbury are also on the cards.
