Grant support for towns young students
Chairman of the trustees, Barbara Barr, accepted the donation from the Constable of the Town and Manor, Susan Hofgartner.
The trust provides financial assistance, towards the cost of further education or apprenticeship, direct to young people aged 16 to 25, with the condition that their home is in Hungerford.
The grants are not means tested on the student or their parents or guardians. In 2013, 18 students applied for, and all received, grants.
Mrs Barr said that the applicants were “outstanding representatives of the youth of Hungerford,” and that she was delighted that the trust could assist them.
Annually, students are invited to apply for grants in the spring. The trust's grants are funded by endowments and by other local organisations.
