Green-fingered thieves steal pub's hanging baskets

Management at Harry's Bar and Kitchen have been stunned by the theft of six of the pub's 12 hanging baskets

MANAGEMENT at Harry's Bar and Kitchen in Donnington are distraught after green and light fingered thieves stole their prize hanging baskets just weeks after the pub reopened.

After a month-long refurbishment, Harry's Bar and Kitchen, formerly the Fox and Hounds, was official opened on May 1, but in the early hours of May 19, six of the pub's twelve hanging baskets were stolen.

Landlord, Ali Wright, said: “We've tried so hard to turn this pub around and someone steals six of our hanging baskets. it's just unbelievable.

“I don't know how they can get any enjoyment from them knowing that they've been stolen.

“To whoever took them please look after them. They like to be watered twice a day and nurture them as we would of done for the enjoyment of all of our customers.

“We're going to have to wire them very tightly from now on. It's a sad state of affairs.

“The thieves must have been very quiet and very quick.”

The baskets were stolen some time between 2am and 8.30am, while staff were asleep in the pub's living quarters.
