Green light for new furniture warehouse

West Berkshire Council’s Western Area Planning Committee went against the guidance of officers who had recommended the application for a warehouse and ancillary offices at Priors Court Farm, in Priors Court Road, Hermitage, for refusal on Wednesday.
Acorn Furniture Hire wish to build a warehouse with ancillary offices and staff parking.
Chieveley Parish Council had registered its objection, and the district council’s planning officers stated that the eight metre high building would be of great detriment to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The new building which would employ eight full-time and one part-time staff members.
No developer contributions were sought to mitigate the impact of the development on the surrounding area.
