Greenham fires treated as suspected arson





According to Phil Knight, the watch manager of White Watch at Newbury Fire Station, two pumps were called at 5.30am to Pigeons Farm Road, where bins and a fence were discovered alight, in three separate incidents.
“We were called in and out of the fire station to three separate incidents, lasting about 15 minutes each, and were there in total for about 45 minutes,” said Mr Knight.
Firefighters used a hosereel to extinguish the fires. No-one was hurt.
A fence, salt bin and wheelie bin were all damaged. The wheelie bin was destroyed in the blaze.
Thames Valley Police were also in attendance.
Update 11am Fri
Thames Valley Police have confirmed they were called at 5.47am today (Fri) to Pigeons Farm Road, where a fence was on fire.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson-with-intent and is currently in police custody
