Greggs a step closer to coming to Kingsclere

A planning application to extend the Kingsclere Service Station on the A339 has been approved.

This means that a Greggs is possibly a step closer to opening in the North Hampshire village.

The application, which was approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on Monday, December 12, is billed as “construction of single-storey extension to existing forecourt shop building”.

The plans will see the forecourt shop building, which is currently occupied by Budgens, extended to contain a storeroom with a toilet which would allow current facilities to be improved.

Most of the current staff and storage areas within the shop will be converted to facilitate the introduction of the suggested Greggs outlet in the south-west corner of the building.

Although there is no mention of Greggs within the application’s planning statement, the nation-wide bakery chain is clearly named on the proposed building plan.
