Guinness and whiskey is the key to a long life, say family of centenarian
Albert Tillen from Thatcham celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, February 28, with a party surrounded by about 60 to 70 members of his family and friends.
Mr Tillen was a master carpenter before driving tanks in North Africa in World War 2.
When the war was over he went back to work as a master carpenter before retiring at the age of 87.
During his party, his family read aloud his birthday message from The Queen and a slide show was shown about his life.
HIs grandson, Jason Tillen, said that he thought the secret of his grandfather's long life was drinking Guinness and a touch of whiskey
He said: "He loved it (his party).
"He is still active and just keeps himself to himself.
"He isn't your typical 100-year-old."
