Half term at the Corn Exchange
There’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained in Newbury this half-term. Begin the week with a morning of creativity on Saturday (10am until 12.30pm), art teacher Sarah Martinez is running a Dynamic Drawing workshop at New Greenham Arts for children aged 8-14. In this one-off workshop children will get the chance to investigate the formal elements of drawing in a fun and relaxed environment.
On Wednesday,acclaimed children’s theatre company Indefinite Articles will be bring the classic tale of Pinocchio to life on stage. Using puppetry, shadows, illusions, music and magic, children can watch as Pinocchio is carved on stage. This well-known tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy is visually witty and a treat for those that enjoy a story with a big heart. There is performance at 11.30am and again at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £10 (£8 children). Throughout the week, the animation film The Croods will be playing in the Corn Exchange’s friendly 40-seat cinema. The Croods, follows the world’s first prehistoric family on an exciting adventure. The Corn Exchange are also offering a special Relaxed Screening on Saturday at 10.30am. These regular relaxed screenings are designed for those on the autism spectrum or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed cinema environment. The soundtrack volume is reduced and low lights are left on. It is fine for anyone to make noise or move around. These screening are perfect if you have noisy little ones.
