Interest-free loan scheme makes art affordable

As we all think about tightening our financial belts, it is good to know that there are some luxuries which are still affordable. Modern Artists Gallery, Whitchurch on Thames, is part of Arts Council England's Own Art scheme which is designed to make it easy and affordable for everyone to buy contemporary works of art including paintings, photography, sculpture and glassware.

You can borrow up to £2,000, or as little as £100,and pay back the loan in 10 monthly instalments – interest free. You can take your artwork away with you on the day and enjoy it at home while paying off the loan.

Own Art was launched in England in 2004 and, to date, has been used by more than 22,000 people for the purchase of contemporary art valued in excess of £17.5m. Arts Council England aims to encourage people to start collecting and investing in the art they love while promoting the work of up-and-coming new artists.

Specialising in contemporary British and international fine art by professional artists and emerging talent, Modern Artists Gallery is a good place to visit with a view to acquiring contemporary art. They represent more than 60 artists, exhibited over two floors of gallery space.
