Hay bales on fire in Wash Common field




Fire crews were called to Wash Common to tackle a field fire.

The incident happened around 9.18pm on land near Andover Road on Friday, August 9.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent a crew from Newbury fire station, along with a 4x4 fire sprinter from Mortimer fire station. They also sent a water carrier from Bracknell to assist.

On arrival, they set to work extinguishing fire in multiple hay bales, using hay drags and a hose reel to put the blaze out.

In all, they were at the scene for just over an hour and a half.
