He did it! Erik ‘the Animal’ Luis from Newbury Muay Thai triumphs in Bangkok bout
GO, Erik the Animal!
Newbury’s own martial arts hero has triumphed in Thailand - to the delight of friends and family back home in the Newbury and Thatcham area.
Proud parents Amerigo and Julia plus supporters celebrated in The Taste of England at Lower Henwick Farm, off Turnpike Road between Newbury and Thatcham, following Erik’s victory on Friday, October 3.
Previous triumphs allowed Erik, aged 20, from Newbury Muay Thai, a chance at greater glory - Friday’s bout was hosted by promoters ONE Championship which claims the sport’s “biggest global stage in the world.”
His victory over Mammad Amraliyev means his fight record now stands at 18 wins and just two losses.
Erik posted afterwards: “Thank you everyone, for all the support I’ve received in the build-up and after my fight.
“I’m very blessed and grateful for everything.
“And thank you to my brothers at Newbury Muay Thai for traveling all the way to Thailand to corner me for my fight.
“You made me feel comfortable going into battle and I wasn’t going to lose in front of you all - no way!”
