Hungerford Jazz Forum bids farewell to its long-time house drummer
Hungerford Jazz Forum, which meets at the British Legion on the last Friday of the month, recently said goodbye to its long-time house drummer, Rick Ware, whose death was announced at a recent session.
Rick was a constant supporter of HJF from the earliest days and was always kind and helpful to other musician, especially drummers.
Rick always sat at the back of the stage at his drum kit and in an unassuming way kept the music going on time and with taste.
He will be sorely missed by fellow musicians and his many friends at HJF.
When an announcement of Rick’s passing was made, it was decided to make a collection which, with the door takings would be donated to Music For All, a charity nominated by Rick’s wife Sally.
Thanks to the generous contributions of HJF’s members and audience, £250 was donated, with the memorium including the well know drummer“s count-in "Remembering Rick Ware - our friend and drummer for too many years to recall - you will be greatly missed. All your friends at the Forum... 1... 2... 1, 2, 3, 4..."
