Head looks forward to taking up St Barts post
Julia Mortimore will take the helm in January, following the news that the current head, Christina Haddrell, will be retiring at Christmas, bringing her 15-year involvement with the Newbury school to an end.
Ms Mortimore said: “I am delighted to be joining St Bartholomew’s in January and taking it forward. St Bart’s is an excellent school and I look forward to building on its success and opening new opportunities. The school has a hugely committed staff and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Ms Mortimore’s 25 years of teaching experience includes 10 years as the head of the Costello School, Basingstoke.
She said: “St Bartholomew’s has offered me a really exciting opportunity,”
Ms Mortimore will follow in Mrs Haddrells footsteps once the school’s building project, which includes new facilities for exams and sports changing, is completed later this year.
The chairman of governors at St Bart’s, Ian Peddie, said: “We are very pleased that we will be welcoming Julia to St Bart’s in the new year. She has enormous strengths, a wealth of experience and an impressive track record.
“She will be taking forward a school with a rich history and ethos at the heart of our community in Newbury and building on a great legacy.”
