Head shave raises £2k for local charities
Anna Holmes and her friend Valerie Kingston complete the challenge at the White Hart pub in High Street as part of a fundraising evening.
Mr Holmes said: "It was amazing; we had hundreds of people turning up, there was standing room only.
"Beforehand we both looked at each other and thought, what are we doing?
"But we knew it was for a good cause and that was the main reason for doing it."
The money raised will go towards the MS Society and Dingley Family and Specialist Early Years Centre as both women have various degrees of MS and Ms Holmes was also born with Spina Bifida.
Ms Kingston will be donating her hair to Little Princess Trust - which provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
During the evening, three men also had various body parts waxed to raise money for the same charities.
Ms Holmes said: "I'm loving my new hair do and I'm still getting head rubs.
"My parents are really proud.
"It was fantastic, people just went above and beyond.
"It puts your faith back in human kind; we didn't expect to raise that amount of money."
The waxing on the day was done by Beauty at Tiffany's which donated 10 per cent of its takings from the day to the causes.
