And as part of her preparation, she was recently joined by staff and pupils on a 28k run around the school field.

During part of the run, pupils showed their support by playing musical instruments, with a Djembe drum played at each kilometre.

Speaking about her motivation, Ms Rigg said: “I am running the marathon in support of the wonderful work of Berkshire Music Trust, which provides music lessons for children across Berkshire.

“As headteacher, I witness first-hand the life-changing influence music can have on a child, giving them a sense of belonging and place. But it is difficult to afford.

“Please support me in making music accessible to all.”

The school has started an online fundraiser to support her marathon journey and is encouraging the community to rally behind her fundraising efforts.
