Head to Hampstead Norreys this weekend

Village open gardens and summer market return

TAKE a sneak peak at gardens in a picturesque West Berkshire village later this month.

Hampstead Norreys’ biennial open gardens event showcases gardens of all shapes and sizes, including a spectacular four-acre design with a walled cottage garden, as well as a formal knot garden and an unusual plot on an old railway line.

There will be homemade tea and cakes available all afternoon at St Mary’s Church, along with a wide range of plants for sale.

For children, a games garden will feature tennis, croquet, giant Connect 4 and giant Jenga. There will also be a Hunt the Queen treasure hunt with prizes.

Organiser Janet Carruzzo said: “This is the seventh year we have held this event and last year we saw more than 200 people coming along to enjoy the village’s beautiful gardens.

“This is a great way to see the picturesque village of Hampstead Norreys.”

Entrance is £7 for adults to visit all the gardens and under 16s are free. Tickets are available on the day from any of the gardens or the church.

This event is in aid of St Mary’s Church Raise the Roof Appeal.

Dogs are not permitted in the gardens.

Hampstead Norreys Community Shop at Manor Courtyard is holding its summer market from 10.30am until 2pm on Saturday, June 18. The market will be selling a selection of artisan crafts, jewellery and local foods.o
