Heart attack victim raises money for cardiac team that helped him
Nigel Rowe raised £2,117 for the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s cardiac rehabilitation service after taking part in the Bayer 10k run in Newbury in May.
The money will be invested in new exercise equipment to improve outcomes for patients who have suffered from heart disease.
Forty-nine-year-old Mr Howe suffered a heart attack last August while jogging, but was given the confidence to run again after taking part in rehabilitation sessions offered by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The Newbury man took part in a programme at Northcroft Leisure Centre, Newbury, but there are also sessions at other centres in West Berkshire.
Mr Howe (pictured right) completed the Bayer 10k run earlier this year in 70 minutes, two minutes faster than his time last year.
“I’m really grateful for the support from the team. It was a great feeling when I crossed the line,” Mr Howe said.
