Series of events on how to heat your home - without costing the earth

HUNGERFORD Environmental Action Team (HEAT) is running a series of free public events on the theme 'Heat Your Home without Costing the Earth'.

The programme aims to help households keep their home heating costs as low as possible while minimising the associated climate-damaging carbon emissions.

The project launched with an event on draught proofing and will culminate in a major exhibition in Hungerford Town Hall in September.

HEAT spokesman John Downe said the programme had been made possible with a National Lottery grant made to HEAT earlier this year.

The remaining programme is as follows:

n Thursday, June 9, at 7pm in the Hungerford Hub/Library: Home Heating Controls and Smart Meters.

Andy Dowling will give the low-down on making your home heating much smarter and Mark Greenwell of HEAT will be explaining why he moved to a Smart Meter and what it now does for him.

The Hungerford Hub will be demonstrating the new Smart heating controls recently installed there too.

n Thursday, June 23, at 7pm in The Hungerford Hub/Library: Solar Electricity on your roof.

Andy Tunstall from Solar Streets will be explaining all about it in a video and will be online to answer questions.

John Downe and Mark Greenwell of HEAT will describe how their solar panels help provide their hot water, run their homes and even fill their cars with fuel.

n Saturday, September 24, 10.30am to 4pm in the Town Hall: HEAT Your Home without Costing the Earth.

At this all-day, free public exhibition event, the Town Hall will become an Aladdin’s cave of experts, advisors, companies and case studies keen to support visitors in drawing up their individual energy cost and carbon emissions reduction roadmap for their home.
