It remains in place throughout tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday.

The Met Office has warned of a risk of flooding, saying that up to 100mm of rain could fall in some areas if repeated heavy rain hits the same area.

“Not all areas will be affected, but scattered heavy showers on Wednesday night are expected to merge into longer spells of heavy, perhaps thundery rain overnight and through Thursday,” it added.

There is also the threat of disruption to public transport and the Met Office also warns of poor driving conditions during the heavy rain.

It added that the heavy rain on Friday will increase the likelihood of impacts from flooding.

“There is also the potential for further spells of heavy rain across parts of the south over the weekend,” the warning added.
