The mayor of Hungerford has been re-elected for another term.
Helen Simpson told a full town council meeting on Tuesday night, April 4: "I'm happy to stand for a fifth – and final – term, if you would like me to."
Mrs Simpson was duly re-elected amid applause.
She thanked colleagues but stressed: "This will be the last time; then it's time for someone else."
Jon Shatford was elected to be her deputy, having been proposed by the current incumbent, Claire Winser.
Mrs Simpson thanked Mrs Winser for her support during the past term.
Mrs Winser was also re-elected to be chair of the town council's finances and general purposes committee.
