Help get the best for Over 80s with NWN parcel fund

Our thanks go to Dene Burton (store manager) and Carol Irwin (PR ambassador) from Sainsbury’s, pictured below, front left and right, for all their efforts and commitment, to help us ensure this year’s parcel packing day, and our big delivery day run as smoothly as in previous years. Sainsbury’s are also collecting for us at their information desk, so if you would like to contribute to this very local worthy cause, please drop your spare pennies in, when you have done your shopping.
The fundraising has started, and I have already received cheques from very generous donors whom I would like to thank: Greenham Parish Council, Kintbury Parish Council, John O’Gaunt Community College, Rivar Ltd, Thatcham Town Council and several primary schools, including: Thatcham Park, Falkland, Inkpen, Beenham, Speenhamland, and St Gabriel’s. Since the launch of the parcel fund this year we have raised £1,676, so still have a long way to go.
If you are planning to have a fundraising event – maybe a coffee morning, a dress-down day, a sponsored run or anything else – please contact Joanne so we can arrange for a photographer to come along and publicise it for you both before and after the event.
One of our fundraising events is the sports quiz night on Thursday November 21 at the Bowlers Arms, Enborne Street. A great night out for sports enthusiasts, so put the date in your diary and email

for details.
If you would like to contribute financially, and you are able to go online, visit Greenham Common Trust’s page at www.findmeagrant.org/wberks. They will match your donation so we reach our target sooner. If you donate online, please also email me so I am able to thank you for your donation. Alternatively, send a cheque made payable to ‘NWN Over 80s’ Christmas Parcel Fund’ to Jo Fulker, Newspaper House, Faraday Road, Newbury Berkshire RG14 2DW.
Finally, if you would like to add the name of an elderly resident who is over 80 years of age living in Newbury, Hungerford or Thatcham to the list, or to make any other amendments, please email jo.fulker@newburynews.co.uk
