'Help give Collin life-saving op'
Construction worker Collin Woodruff, aged 40, has inoperable, advanced pancreatic cancer which could claim his life.
A first bout of experimental NanoKnife treatment last year gave him and his family new hope. But now he needs a second bout to eradicate the remaining tumours.
That is why the Woodruffs, who live in Enborne Place, need help.
Mr Woodruff is also keen to raise awareness of the disease, which responds better to early diagnosis and treatment.
He said symptoms usually include jaundice, very opaque urine, itchy skin, indigestion, back pain, loss of appetite and weight loss.
Ironically, said Mr Woodruff, he did report these symptoms but he believes they were misdiagnosed along the way.
He said: “I want people to seek early medical help if they suffer the same symptoms as me.
“Also, I want to see my kids grow up. I want to see them graduate; I want to see them marry and have children of their own.”
The pair have a 23-month-old son, Nathan. Mr Woodruff, who also has a 17-year-old son, Darrell, from a previous relationship, and is stepfather to his wife’s eight-year-old, Jaiden, was given around five months to live.
St Nicolas Junior School and the Newbury Gardens Day Nursery, attended by the Woodruffs’ children, have pledged to pitch in with fundraising activities.
